  জীববৈচিত্র্য প্রাণী রক্ষায় প্রযুক্তি ড. বিভূতি ভূষণ মিত্র প্রকাশ : ১৩ মার্চ ২০২৪ ১০:৪৭ এএম ড. বিভূতি ভূষণ মিত্র পৃথিবী নামক গ্রহে অসংখ্য বৈচিত্র্যময় উদ্ভিদ ও প্রাণীর বসবাস। বৈশ্বিক পরিবেশ পরিবর্তন যেমন আবহাওয়া পরিবর্তন, বন হারিয়ে যাওয়া, ভূমির অপব্যবহার বন্য প্রাণী বিলুপ্তির দিকে নিয়ে যাচ্ছে। বর্তমানে ১ হাজার ২১০ প্রজাতির স্তন্যপায়ী, ১ হাজার ৪৬৯ প্রজাতির পাখি, ২ হাজার ১০০ প্রজাতির সরীসৃপ ও ২ হাজার ৩৮৫ প্রজাতির মাছ হুমকির মুখে রয়েছে। বন্য প্রাণী পাচার, নানা রোগব্যাধির বিস্তার, আবহাওয়া পরিবর্তনে মানুষের যথেচ্ছ ব্যবহার বন্য প্রাণীর বাসস্থান হুমকির মুখে নিয়ে যাচ্ছে। আজকালকার যুগকে মানুষের যুগ বলা হলেও এটি ধীরে ধীরে তথ্যের যুগে প্রবেশ করছে। মানুষ এখন ইন্টারনেট, সমাজমাধ্যম, কম্পিউটার ডিভাইস ব্যবহার করে জীবন সহজ ও যুক্ত করে তুলছে। ইন্টারনেট মানুষকে প্রাকৃতিক পৃথিবী নতুন করে পর্যবেক্ষণ ও বিশ্লেষণের আলাদা সুযোগ করে দিয়েছে। উন্নত সেন্সর ব্যবহার করে বিজ্ঞানীরা খুব দ্রুত তথ্য পেতে ও বিশ্লেষণ করতে পারছেন। পৃথিবী মানুষের নানা কর্মকাণ্ডের কারণে এখন হুমকির মুখে। ইন্টারনেটের বিকাশ মানুষকে...

  টাঙ্গুয়া হাওরের সুরক্ষা জরুরি ড. বিভূতি ভূষণ মিত্র প্রকাশ : ২৯ ফেব্রুয়ারি ২০২৪ ১০:১৭ এএম  ড. বিভূতি ভূষণ মিত্র টাঙ্গুয়া হাওর। প্রথমেই বলে নিচ্ছি এটি টাঙ্গুয়ার নয়, টাঙ্গুয়া। স্থানীয়রা একে টাঙ্গুয়া হাওরই বলেন। সরকারি নামজারিতেও এটি টাঙ্গুয়া নামে পরিচিত। অনেকের মতে, বাঁশের টং বানিয়ে কৃষকরা ধান পাহারা দিতেন। এখান থেকেই টাঙ্গুয়া নামটি এসেছে। এ নিয়ে জাহাঙ্গীরনগর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের আমার শিক্ষক ড. মো. মোস্তফা ফিরোজের সঙ্গে কথা বলি। তিনি আরও জানালেন আইইউসিএন-এর প্রজেক্ট প্রোপোজালে এই টাঙ্গুয়া হাওরের নাম টাঙ্গুয়ার হাওর লেখার পর এটি টাঙ্গুয়ার হাওর নামেই সব জায়গায় পরিচিতি পেতে থাকে। সত্যিকার অর্থে এটি এখন আর টাঙ্গুয়া হাওর নাই। নতুন আরেক টাঙ্গুয়ার হাওরই হয়ে গেছে। একসময় জীববৈচিত্র্যের লীলাভূমি ছিল টাঙ্গুয়া হাওর। পাওয়া যেত ১৪১ প্রজাতির মাছ, যার মধ্যে মাগুর, বাইম, গুলশা, চিতল, কালবাউশ, ট্যাংরা, গজার, বেতি, কাকিয়া অন্যতম। নানা প্রজাতির জলজ উদ্ভিদও এদের বিশেষ সৌন্দর্যকে ধরে রেখেছে। যেমন হিজল, হেলেঞ্চা, পানিফল, নলখাগড়া, শালুক, শাপলা ইত্যাদি। এখানে শীতকালে ২৫০ প্রজাতির অতিথি পাখিও আসে। এ ছাড়া ১৩ ...

জীববৈচিত্র্য অবহেলিত শহুরে বন্য প্রাণী ড. বিভূতি ভূষণ মিত্র প্রকাশ : ১৫ ফেব্রুয়ারি ২০২৪ ১২:৪০ পিএম  ড. বিভূতি ভূষণ মিত্র যে বাস্তুতন্ত্রে মানুষ প্রধান সেই বাস্তুতন্ত্রে বেড়ে ওঠা বন্য প্রাণীকেই শহুরে বন্য প্রাণী বলা যায়। যদিও সব ক্ষেত্রে এ কথা খাটে না। এটা নির্ভর করে শহরে কোন প্রজাতিটি কীভাবে ব্যবহৃত হচ্ছে, কীভাবে তা উন্নয়নের মুখে পড়ে ক্ষতির সম্মুখীন হচ্ছে তার ওপর। শহরে কোন প্রাণীগুলো প্রায়ই মানুষের সংস্পর্শে আসে, এটা যেমন শহুরে বন্য প্রাণীকে প্রতিনিধিত্ব করে, তেমন বনের জায়গায় যে প্রাণীগুলো মানুষের সংস্পর্শে আসছে তাদেরও আমরা শহুরে বন্য প্রাণী বলতে পারি। আরও স্পষ্ট করে বললে যে প্রাণীগুলো মানুষের দেওয়া খাবার খায়, যেমন পাখি ও পোষা প্রাণী, সর্বভুক প্রাণীও হতে পারে। এসব প্রাণী মানুষের অত্যাচার সহ্য করতে পারে। এরা তাদের আচরণ পরিবর্তন করতে পারে। এমনকি পরিবেশের বড় ধরনের সমস্যার মুখে পড়লেও অসুবিধা হয় না তাদের। শহরে মানুষের সংস্পর্ষে বন্য প্রাণীর আসা একটা স্বাভাবিক ঘটনা। এ ক্ষেত্রে জনসাধারণকে বন্য প্রাণীর ওপর সহিংসতার বদলে ভালোবাসার জায়গা করে দিতে হবে। শহরের বাস্তুতন্ত্রে বেড়ে ওঠা বন্...
